Mad Cat MK II.1 and other stuff

Good evening everyone.  The Mad Cat MK II.1 and Vulture MK II IV should be in clay this weekend..once restocks are finished. Then, the casting will begin. Now, the Vulture MK II IV is going to be a full run but the Mad Cat MK II.1 is going to be a limited re-release.

If you want in on the Mad Cat MK II.1 contact me via e-mail to pre-order.  Any that don't sell in the pre-order will be listed in the store.  So, jump in or take your chances and wait.
Limited Release?  Evil...muahahahaha!
Thoughts on future projects...the Atlas.  Man, the classic Atlas is...well...classic...but a little dated. The MWO version is pretty awesome...but not the classic.  I have been kicking around the idea of melding the two. Basically, I would take the Armorcast kit and rework parts.  The head would HAVE to be MWO style. The arms could use some work as could the legs. What do you think?

How about Mauler...the kit?  Maybe?

Now, the touchy issue of recasting.  Normally, in our industry recasting someone else's work is a huge no-no.  That being said, the Armorcast kits have been off the market for 7 years now and I doubt they will pick up the license again.  I am really thinking hard about recasting one or two of the old Armorcast kits.  Again, thoughts?
Finally, anyone in the crew good with Web Design?  If so, would you be willing to trade your time for mechs?

Kit Updates

Masters....Check!

Rubber...Check!

Resin...Check!

All systems are ready to go.  Casting of the Vulture MK IV and the MadCat MK II.1 shall begin shortly and should be ready in about 6 weeks give or take. That also means that pre-orders for the Vulture MK IV are closed.  If I have sent you an invoice, you have until the due date to pay it...after that the invoice will be cancelled and you will have to pay full price when it is listed in the store.

Speaking of the store, there is one final run of Fleas being cast. Once those are gone, the molds will be destroyed and the Flea will be no more.  There are also more Uziels being cast, but I cannot guarantee the molds will last much longer. There have actually been over 30 cast and sold to date. Look for a Bushwacker restock soon as well.

Since I know you will ask, what differences will there be with the new MadCat? A lot of little things mainly. Sam over at Myomer Dreams made some legit observations about the design...mainly missing LRM mounting tabs. That has been corrected.  I have added tabs at all the joints to aid in connecting pieces rather than the very simple nipple/dimple set-up from the first run. I also added some engraved lines to show the builder where to attach the main gun barrels to the gun body. Scott at the Messy Desk blog commented that some surfaces were lacking detail so I corrected that as well by adding some engraved panel lines or raised panel details.  The detail pieces MMD out of Germany cut for me are coming in very, very handy. The biggest change, IMHO, is that the feet are now one unit rather than a foot with 3 separate toes. I think this will make for a more stable build and will be easier for the inexperienced builders to deal with. For those with more advanced skills, it will be easy enough to cut the toes off if you want to re-position them as I did in my build.

Here is to an AWESOME start to 2015!

New Years Update

I have been working with a "benefactor" (if you will) who is interested in getting some older kits re-popped.  It looks like the Mad Cat MK II will be first up for a limited re-pop in a couple months.  There will be improvements on the design...better tabs at the joints, mounting tabs for the LRMs, and some added detail.  While I had planned on scaling back production in 2015 things may go the opposite way.

For anyone who is interested, Arcadia is releasing a Macross Armored Valkyrie in 1/60 scale which puts it at about 9.5".  This is a really good size to go with the stuff I produce if you want an Unseen TRO type Crusader.  It is available at Hobby Link Japan for pre-order.

The Vulture MK IV pre-order is going like they usually do...lots of  "I wants" but not that many actual pre-orders.  So far, only 5 customers have pre-paid...but its early in the pre-order.  We will see how things go.

Currently, all kits are out of stock.  Molds for the Uziel and Flea are being checked for quality.  More Dervish and Bushwacker kits are being cast as I write this.
