Updates Updated

Jump Starter

Only 5 donations so far...(sad panda)

General News

The Bushy is going to the "back-up" caster for a quote.  I should have a dollar amount next week.  You should also check out Scott's pre-order for the Hellspawn.  The Bushy pre-order will be longer that the Uziel.  I may do like with the Madcat MK II...sell "slots".  It worked well.

All but my international Uziel orders are out.  They should be hitting mailboxes any day now.

I apologize about the Madcat MK II LRMs.  That was a crap oversight on my part.  I included NO mounting points for those.  I will get the build notes updated to show how I did it.  Pinning it is the easiest method...personally, magnets.

More General News

Decals, decals, decals.  I would love to offer decals to go with my kits.  I have contacted Fighting Piranha countless times in the last year and never hear back.  That being the case, I have decided to look into making my own. These would be "white backed" decals meaning you could put them on a dark color and they will still look great.  I print some of my own using my Xerox Phaser 6125N but I am limited to no white. Obstacles to overcome...the printer can create the art, but that is expensive. He said I could send the art, but he would need it in a Corel Draw file.  Yeah...right.  What?  Who? Any artists want to volunteer their time?

The second obstacle is the sheer number of Houses, Clans, and Mercs.  Then within each you have unit upon unit.  I could never make them all...nor include them in a kit.  I was thinking of making "Decal Packs."  For Example if you ordered the FedSuns Pack it would contain the primary House logo, some of the major units (Assault Guards, Heavy Guards, 1st Kathil Uhlans, 1st NAIS), and assorted warning stripes (black/yellow checker board), etc.

OR I could just offer general warning stripes and the like and leave it to the individual to find their own major unit markings.  Can you see the potential issues?  For every one I would produce there would be twelve "Can you make this one?" e-mails. The answer would always be a resounding "No."

Commissions (update)

I am available again for scratch commissions or build commissions. The only commission I have going right now is a Madcat MK II build.   Funds from commissions go to getting more kits cast...and you know you want more kits...right?

In talks with a potential client.  Thoughts on a more modernized Dervish?

Planned Future Releases

The Uziel, Madcat MK II, Flea, and Deimos are all available in the store. International shipping is again available. The Nova is back on the desk and I am going to shoot for an August release date.  Then, unless someone steps in with a commission/casting option, I may release the Masakari.  Of all my builds, this one is the most "caster ready."  Or I may finish scratching out my Loki...decisions, decisions.

Uziel Update

Just an FYI...the Uziel pre-order will be closing Monday night at 11:59 PM. After that, regular pricing goes into effect.

Also, the Summer Jump Start is off to a slower start than I thought.  Remember, we need to hit 20 donations for those prizes.  C'mon folks...a 1 in 20 shot at a free kit?  That's better odds than the lottery...and even if it is a kit you don't want...eBay it!  I bet you will make your money back.

Bushwacker

First, don't forget the Summer Jump Start Fundraiser. The link is to the right. Remember, we need to hit 20 donations for prize drawings.

Second, the Uziel Pre-Order is still going. That one is limited to 15 and 5 are already gone.

And now for the latest build.  The Bushwacker!  This was a commission piece. If there is enough interest, the customer has agreed to let us cast it.  Please comment below and let me know what you think. I lightly tacked it together to snap some pics...

The client agree with me that the cross shaped LRM looked silly so we went MW4 style.

ER Large laser and rotary machine gun in the chin.

Flare launcher, just for the hell of it.

Next to the Uziel

Uziel Pre-Order Closed

First off, Summer Jump Start Campaign...to the right...the mech choice is already gone.  The donor chose the Nova.  Looks like a year of medium 'mechs.

I received a nice suprise in the mail today. Along with the final shipment of Mad Cat MK II kits, there was a sample kit of the upcoming Uziel. You know, every time I get annoyed with JPG he goes and does something awesome. I just slapped this together with little prep...sweet.

Summer Jump Starter Begins!

To help fund further builds, I am trying a "Jump Start" campaign. The intent is to use the funds raised in the Jump Start to get more kits cast up in a timely fashion. I will be soliciting $20 donations with a minimum goal of 20 donations.  If we reach the 20 donation mark there will be AWESOME PRIZES!  Right now I am planning on offering a BMC kit, a Northwind Highlanders poster, a Ral Partha Ominimech Assault Lance, and a 1/72 Wave Legioss Armo-Soldier. For each donation you get one entry into the final drawing…so if you donate 3 times, you get three entries.  The first winner drawn gets his/her choice of prizes, second gets second and so on.  The drawing is contingent on getting at least 20 donations.

There is also one $100 donation option.  The one person who contributes $100 will get to choose a kit to be produced this year. You can choose from the Nova, Loki, Thor, Mauler, Owens, Vulture MK IV, Masakari, Bushwacker or Annihilator.

But you can't choose the next mech...already gone!

Mad Cat MK II: Wave One

Alright everyone, the pre-orders are going out in the post today.  Domestic customers should have them in about 3 days (shipping priority).  International...well...it depends on customs and such.

You also may have noticed that international shipping is not an option in the marketplace.  These international orders are killing me.  I have adjusted rates up once already...and I still went $40 out of pocket getting them shipped.  For the foreseeable future, it will be on a case by case basis.

What's in a name?

When I started the BMC website and later this blog, there was actually a group of us working together. But that is no longer the case.  Now, I fly solo (with some help on occasion). That being said, I have been considering a name change.  The only reason I haven't is that so many of you know the BMC name.  But I also want the name to reflect me and my efforts. The name also gives the impression of a private group...I don't know...I just feel I have grown beyond it.

Thoughts?

Mad Cat MK II Sample kit

Several weeks ago the caster said he was shipping me the first copy of the Mad Cat MK II, however, it never showed up.  I chalked it up to another promise he got too busy to fulfill (like regular photo updates). Anyway, guess what showed up yesterday?  A copy of the Mad Cat MK II. Huzzah!  There was a piece missing, but the casts look really, really good!
