I am on the horns of a dilemma.  Its time to paint some of these builds.  Usually, I don't paint/detail them as it would get messed up when they are cast as kits but I am getting tired of the primer gray army.  Another reason I had quit was that my airbrush was shot. Now, it was not the best...in fact, it was a Kopycake airbrush I tweaked. However, my wife got me a new airbrush and my father-in-law got me an air compressor so I have no more excuses.  Interesting story on the airbrush...the price tag said $149.99 but the cashier rang it up as $14.99.  The store manager was utterly confused when we returned to pay the difference.

So, any suggestions on how I should paint up some of these guys?  I was thinking Kell Hounds for the Fafnir.  There was an image made years ago depicting a Kell Hounds unit leaving the mech bay.  I had it on the PC that died and now I can't find it on-line. For the Anni, Warhawk, and Daishi I was thinking of Zeta Battalion from Wolf's Dragoons but I am not sure I want to go from all gray to all black. I can say I would like some uniformity...I don't want 12 mechs with 12 different units.

Oh, the Vulture pre-order is closed.  Further purchases will be at the $125 retail price.  On that note, I got an e-mail that accused me of price gouging on these mechs. I would like to refer everyone to the old Armorcast page showing the Vulture going for $98 and that was back in 2007.  Prices HAVE gone up on rubber, resin and supplies.  Heck, the plastic sheet I use has gone up 50 to 60 percent in that time. I was at my LHS yesterday and a sheet plastic I would use for the vents on a mech is now at $6.50 a sheet. So, if you don't like my prices then I would suggest you make your own and try to get it cast...then come back and tell me (with a straight face) that I am over charging.

Vulture Pre-order....really?

I am shocked that the Vulture pre-order has had such a slow start.  So far, only 6 pre-orders.  That is a surprise. I would have thought that people would be falling over themselves to get a Vulture.  Maybe there are just too many on the market right now? Scott is producing his Catapult, SMTK has produced some of his 3d printed designs plus there has been a slew of people making smaller mechs based on MWO.  Who knows....

I got the Daishi masters & molds back from the caster.  I sent 15 pieces and got back 20.  Damn, this thing got trashed. I am also not thrilled that they made changes to the masters without consulting me...just to make casting easier.  Now, what to do with these molds....its not like I know how to cast anything.

A picture is worth a thousand words....

They say that a picture is worth a thousand words.  If that is true, then here are a few thousand words for you...starting with "awesome".

44,000

Wow!  If I read the stats right, we just recently broke the 44K unique page view mark.  That is incredible and very humbling.  Thanks to all who have been following me and my works.

The Vulture is going to the caster this week.  He has been swamped with work for Wonderfest and I did not want the masters just sitting in a workshop.  He still has not been able to provide me with a quote on this one so I am probably just going to pay for the castings out of pocket rather than do a pre-order.  Also, with the issues with the last two pre-orders I may shy away from them all together. He said he should be able to get it done by the end of June.

The Fafnir.  Man-oh-man...every time I fit the pieces together all I can think is, "I'ma firin my lazor, Bitches!"  Sorry for the bad language...its just funny that the B word is what pops into my head.  This thing is going to be awesome.  I should have some pics this weekend.

Also, I am going to post a quicky conversion of the Victor's arm to remove the hand and add a laser to make it more MW4-ish.

Victor

Well, I have to give it to JPG Productions...he came through in a huge way and got the replacement parts to me in record time.  All but one kit has gone out...I have to send one to the UK and overseas shipping is a pain in the arse...and expensive.  That one will go out later in the week.  Also, note that I have added a "Marketplace" page where I will be posting all the kits for sale. Here are some pics of a Victor I quickly assembled....no real touch-ups on this one...just CA glue.

Holding Pattern

I am still waiting on the replacement Victor parts, unfortunately Wonderfest is right around the corner so just about every caster, JPG included, are working full tilt.   As soon as they get here, the remaining kits will be shipped.

When the Daishi was shipped to me by the caster, they put one complete kit in a bag and I trusted all was well.  Unfortunately, a lot of those kits were missing pieces.  To avoid that this time, I have personally packed every kit individually to avoid the missing parts issue.

So, what's going on now?  Still trying to get quotes on the Vulture. Yes, that will be the next kit.  The Fafnir is coming along quite nicely.  Maybe some pics will go up this week.
